Your school board members are elected and paid to serve with foresight and advocate for policy change affecting their districts.
As a School Board Member, I would have worked with county commissioners, the tax collector, the property appraiser, and essential services to advocate for the re-implementation of impact fees years ago. Now, partly due to the inaction and poor planning of some, the county is facing the enormous challenge of paying for the infrastructure needed to support the growth that has occurred.
A study on impact fees will take 6-9 months before even beginning to introduce them back into our county's fees.
Now, it will fall on the taxpayers to pay more to provide for the unavoidable increase in services.
Thank you to the few officials who have worked and advocated to have the conversation!
Included is a link to the June 7 School Board Meeting in which you can hear for yourself who is concerned about impact fees with thoughtful questions and advocacy and who is just "tired and hungry" and wants to go home.
